North Carolina Stream Assessment Method (NC SAM) and Training Course
SAVE-THE-DATE
April 6-9, 2026
We are planning a North Carolina Stream Assessment Method (NCSAM) course from April 6 to April 9, 2027. Staff from Natural Resource Consultants (Jennifer Burdette), Sage Ecological Services (Nikki Duprey), NC Department of Transportation (Danielle Mir), and Eaton Scientific (Larry Eaton) will conduct a 4-day course on the latest version (Version 2.1, August, 2015) of the North Carolina methodology for determining the condition of streams and other non-wetland waterbodies (such as ditches).
This class is organized by and taught through the NC Association of Environmental Professionals (NCAEP). This lecture and field course will focus on the method, which is the standard method formally adopted by the US Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District, in their Public Notice dated April 21, 2015. The course will be taught in and near Raleigh, NC, and will focus on streams located in two different NCSAM Zones – Piedmont and Inner Coastal Plain, in varying conditions.
