Cultural Resources Assessments
State Historic Preservation Office Update
We are excited to announce a special presentation by Renee Gledhill-Earley, Environmental Review Coordinator for the NC Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). Renee will present the when, what, why, who, and how of cultural resources assessments. The presentation is intended to inform all levels of environmental professionals and to assist you in navigating historic preservation laws, regulations, standards, and requirements for state and federal projects.
Renee Gledhill-Earley has been with the NC Historic Preservation Office since 1978. She first served as National Register Coordinator and in 1982 began as the Environmental Review Coordinator for federal and state undertakings. A graduate of Florida State University in American History and with master's degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the history of the New South and Library Science, she has coordinated the review of nearly 120,000 projects likely to affect historic properties that ranged from affordable housing, to highways, to nuclear power plants, sewers, cell towers, solar farms, offshore wind turbines, and more than a dozen presidentially-declared disasters. Renee is the recipient of the Robert E. Stipe Professional Award from Preservation North Carolina, a Raleigh News and Observer's Tar Heel of the Week, and the Richard Caswell Award for 45 years of public service.
