Come join us in Charlotte, NC to learn about the City of Charlotte's Umbrella Stream and Wetland Mitigation Bank.

The City of Charlotte Umbrella Stream and Wetland Mitigation Bank (Bank) was established in 2004.  The two primary purposes of the Bank are 1) to ensure that City and County projects that require stream and wetland mitigation are mitigated locally and 2) to eliminate project delays due to stream and wetland mitigation projects.

Isaac Hinson will discuss the present status of the Bank, the proposed amendment to the Umbrella Mitigation Banking Instrument, and the City’s future plans for mitigation and watershed restoration.  He will also discuss mitigation site selection and prioritization, challenges of implementing mitigation in an urban setting, the evolution of watershed planning-based mitigation, and efforts to incentivize private mitigation investment in Charlotte watersheds.  Audience questions and interaction are encouraged throughout the meeting.
